AUSTRALIA’S golden superstars have returned home after dominating in the pool at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Swimmers Zac Stubblety-Cook and Mollie O’Callaghan were among those who ran into the arms of loved ones at Brisbane Airport, while 100m hero Kyle Chalmers was greeted by his mum in Adelaide on Saturday.

There was no sign of Cody Simpson or Emma McKeon, who opted to spend time in Europe before travelling home after their relationship became the focus of the Games.

O’Callaghan, 18, who bagged seven medals, was all smiles as she pulled out an armful of medals.

“It’s really nice to head back home and settle back in and celebrate with my family,” she said. “I’m really happy to see Mum and my sister.”

Veteran Stubblety-Cook said he would be choosing hot chips and a home-cooked meal after winning gold in the 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

He said the energy at the Games was “something else” and he was glad to be home after a busy nine weeks.

“I’m overwhelmed by it all – it’s good to be home,” he said. “The Comm Games was something else, hearing the crowd – because it was a couple of thousand – it was really cool.”

Stubblety-Cook said he “wasn’t feeling too bad” or tired, and would be back at training come Monday.
