Australia’s strong showing at the recent 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore has been praised and rewarded by Australia’s wealthiest person, Gina Rinehart.

Both Hancock Prospecting and Mrs Rinehart, longstanding private financial supporters of swimming in Australia, have also committed to provide cash rewards to every Australian athlete who received a medal in events she supports.

This includes swimming, with trio Mollie O’Callaghan ($48,750), Kaylee McKeown ($43,750) and Lani Pallister ($30,000) receiving the bonuses in their accounts within the next two weeks.

“I’m delighted to once again provide financial bonuses to our medal winners in the sports where I’m patron,” Mrs Rinehart said.

“It’s a way of saying thank you and showing appreciation for their dedication and achievements for our country, and for helping to build national pride.

“For swimmers like Mollie and others who achieved multiple medals, they will receive bonuses for each and every medal earned.”

Australia (13 gold, 7 silver, 8 bronze) finished second on the medal tally, ahead of the US in third.

China topped the table with 37 medals overall, including 15 gold.
